Candle Care: How to Make Your Soy Candles Last

For many of us, candles are a staple in our homes. They provide ambiance, fill our rooms with wonderful scents, and can be used for both everyday moments and special occasions. If you're like me, you love soy candles for their eco-friendly properties and long burn time. But did you know that there's more to soy candle care than just lighting them and enjoying the benefits? In this blog post, we'll go over some tips on how to make your soy candles last.

Wick Length

One of the most important aspects of soy candle care is wick length. Once your candle has been lit, allow the wax to melt until it reaches the edge of the jar. This ensures that your candle will burn evenly and slowly. If you notice that your wick is getting too long, gently extinguish the flame and use a metal wick trimmer to trim the wick down to about 1/4 inch.

Storage

To prolong the life of your soy candles, it's important to store them properly when they're not in use. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources, as this can cause the wax to melt and the fragrance to fade. Candles should also be stored in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly sealed. This will help to keep dust and other debris out of the wax.

Burn Time

When burning soy candles, be sure to keep an eye on them so that they don't burn for more than 4 hours at a time. This will help to prevent overheating, which can cause damage to both the glass jar and the fragrance oil. If you notice that your candle is starting to smoke or produce soot, extinguish it immediately and allow it to cool before trimming the wick and relighting.

By following these simple tips, you can enjoy your soy candles for longer periods of time. The key is to be mindful of how you're using them and taking proper care of them when they're not in use. With a little bit of attention, your candles will give you many hours of enjoyment!
